Cre mediated gene deletion in the mammary gland

This page contains information about tailoring the Cre/lox recombination system to the mammary gland using the WAP gene promoter or the MMTV-LTR.

Targeting Cre recombinase to the mammary gland

WAP-Cre and MMTV-Cre hybrid genes were generated by Kay-Uwe Wagner. Transgenic mice harboring the WAP-Cre transgene were generated by Bob Wall (USDA in Beltsville) and the MMTV-Cre construct was injected into mouse zygotes in the laboratory of Tony Wynshaw-Boris (NIH).

Results:

An introduction, new techniques, and important results are summarized in our lecture about the Cre/loxP recombination system and gene deletion in the mammary gland. Here you can find also some information about adenoviral gene transfer. If you visit this site using anApple Macintosh or a PC with Windows 3.x then click here

You may enjoy our animated slides if you use a PC with Windows 95/NT and if you have installed an AxtiveX animation player. It could take about 1-2 minutes to download the whole presentation if you are connected with a standard modem.

Three new WAP based mammary expression vectors with loxP sites were generated which can be used with these Cre expressing mice. For mice expressing Cre under the BLG promoter see Stefan Selbert's BLG-Cre page.
